Recreation Meeting Minutes February 15th 2010

Recreation Commission Minutes 2/15/2010- Monday 7 pm

Township Building Township representative: Darren Ponce
Present: Meg Snyder, Dave Gibson, Barbara Holstein, Jody Case-Kennedy

Dave was asked at one point by Joe Barbagallo what do we need in town? Another field on Route 206.

The original plan had four fields

Now there are two fields, need blueprints and township support. Rookies need a field. What do blueprints cost?

Darren will talk to Township Engineer; the Township Committee will want sealed prints.

Dave-Will current Township Committee members will support

Estimate for nets at ball field on 206-$800-1200.

Discuss what doing for:

Story hour

Easter

Pre-teen Night

Montague Day

Holiday Party

Memorial Day- spoke with Rhodie Teufort

Field Clay-206

Soccer

Basketball/Volleyball

Miss Montague-money out of celebration line of budget

New suggestions:

Karate-once a week for 4 weeks

Aerobics?

Game Night

Remote Car Activity

Barbara: filled out a Building Use Form for Tween Night at the school. She must go to the Board of Education meeting on Feb.23 to request. This is a different procedure then in the past. It was suggested she find other parents to go with her.

The question was asked? If we cannot use the school for activities what is available? Grange, Minisink Pavilion, Minisink Church

The Budget is estimated to be $15,000.

Daren Ponce did tell us the Recreation Commission could delegate subcommittees.

Tri-State Rentals has many items available for entertainment.

Monday Feb.22 at 4pm is the next Township Budget meeting, if recreation members available they are asked to attend. Barbara format the budget for presentation.

The Recreation Website is working.

April 17 Trailblazers Open House weather permitting.

Next meeting Monday March 1.

Montgue Recreation Meeting Minutes

February 1st Recreation Meeting Minutes

7:15pm Meeting begins

Present- Meg Snyder, Barbara Holstein, Jody Case Kennedy, Mary Kopetsky, Glen Goodyear, Dave Gibson

Also Present- Toni Lu Martin, Darren Ponce, Terry Snyder

Riel Pierbooms from Trail Blazers spoke about their facilities and the possible use by Montague residents. Planning a summer day camp that Montague residents aged 5-14 could attend. Discussion continued with those present regarding possible uses. Open house is planned for Earth Day April 17th.

Toni Lu asked to be put in charge of Montague Day 2010. Dave Gibson made motion, seconded by Jody Case Kennedy. Voted all in favor

Montague Day is to be held September 25th, 2010 planning to begin in February.

Discussion about Miss Montague Day 2010. Meg will contact Lori Coss and ask her to attend an upcoming meeting.

Barbara Holstein spoke about "Tween" night for early teens to be held at the school one night in February, April and May. planned to have basketball, volleyball and area for teens to sit and talk. Awaiting confirmation that Board of Education has approved use.

Glen Goodyear mentioned the desire to start a basketball program similar to the soccer program already in place during the winter. Dave Gibson spoke about restarting a wrestling program.

A recreation budget workshop meeting to be held Feb. 8th, 2010 at 6:30pm Regular meetings will be held the first Monday of the month at 7pm.

Toni Lu requested permission to have 206 Flea Market sell excess Montague Day shirts for $10 each. Barbara Holstein made the motion seconded by Meg Snyder voted all in favor
